Mathematics was invented to describe real-world events.  Yet, as mathematics teachers, we too often ask students to solve algorithms in a vacuum.  No wonder students are disengaged and uninterested in learning mathematics.
This extraordinary, intense five-day conference connects mathematics to the outside world. Teachers share ideas and learn how to help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics and see its true relevance to daily life.

Held at Duke School (Durham, NC) in a new middle school custom made for 21st century teaching and learning, the conference offers a chance to:

  • Perform experiments and employ technology as you rethink and redefine what a good mathematics teacher does.
  • Learn how your students can quickly generate data and apply algebraic and geometric concepts so they both master the material and understand its significance.
  • Network with math teachers from many locations.
  • Get professional development hours.
